Homework from Mrs. Wittenberg
Reading Homework:
Students will be expected to read nightly for 20-30 minutes.
Comprehension Homework:
Students will be given a reading packet on Monday to complete throughout the week. The reading packet will be due on Fridays. We will review the answers in class and a reward will be given for completing the task.
Family Times Letter:
The Family Times Letter will be sent home on Mondays. This letter is NOT homework; it is a letter filled with information for the parents that provides details about the story of the week we are reading, the reading and grammar skills we will be learning, and the vocabulary words we will be expected to know for the test. This letter also has suggestions of fun activities that you can do at home to help practice the skills we are learning.
Spelling Homework:
Students will have a spelling activity board of choices. Students will select any three tasks from the choice board to complete. Once they have completed the activity, they will color the box to show it is done. Students will be expected to keep all their activities together in their green homework folder throughout the week. All activities will them be stapled together with the choice board on top and they will be turned in at the end of the week.
A reward will be given for completing 3 of the tasks.
Those who fail to return homework assignments three times within a grading quarter may be issued an academic detention.
Here are a few tips that you can do at home to help me out with this new homework routine:

Here are a few tips that you can do at home to help me out with this new homework routine:
- Be sure your child writes their name at the top of the choice board each week.
- Please have your child write the title of each activity they complete on the top of their paper.
- Please staple all the papers together with the choice board on top on Thursday night so that it is ready to turn in on Friday. This will save a lot of time passing the stapler around between a full class of kiddos.
- Remember, all activities are due on Friday. If the students do not have the work on Friday, they will not get a reward. The only exceptions that will be made is if a student is absent on the day the work is due. That child may then, of course, turn their homework in on the day they return.
